Let’s talk about Interior House Painting In Portland Oregon
It’s no fun looking for a painter to work inside your house. Who do you trust? How do you make the right decision? There’s so many painters in Portland, Oregon, and you only need one. How can you be sure you’re getting the right person?
Ideally, I would like to just know a plumber already. Through a friend or a recommendation. Then, when the need arises, I could just call him up and not worry about it.
But we don’t always live in a perfect world, do we?
Look, painting is not that hard. Most people can do it themselves, if they have the time and the inclination. When you do it every day, though, that’s a different story.
The monotony would drive some people crazy. Plus, let’s face it. This isn’t the most prestigious job in the world.
As a result, the painting profession has attracted some, let’s just say, scruffy characters. Not so much the owners of the painting companies… but more the workers. Hey, I’m a painter myself, and some painters I see scare me!
I’ve seen plenty of painters that I wouldn’t let into my house. I wouldn’t even want them to know where I live. Sad to say…
So I understand your situation.
There’s some unknowns here.
You want someone to come in, be neat and professional and honest, do a great job for a fair price, and then leave.
And if you’re like me, you want the owner to be ‘hands on’. You want to see him (or her) on the job, working right along with the help. You want to deal with one person – preferably the owner – throughout the entire job. It’s just so much easier that way.
Well, if it helps any, I’m a very calm and zen-type person. I take my work seriously, but I don’t take life too seriously. Nothing’s worth getting too upset about.
I don’t attract chaos or confusion or – for the most part – bad energy of any kind.
And I’ve been doing this a long time. I can almost paint your house in my sleep. Almost.
I first started painting houses in the late 1970’s… learning from a true craftsman. A lot’s changed since then. The paint quality’s gotten so much better. Everybody wants to spray everything now. And generally, the skill level of the workers has gone down.
When I started painting, we used oil base every single day. Now, you’re an outlaw if you use oil based paint.
It’s much harder to work with oil base. I don’t miss it. But it sure separated the amateurs from the professionals! Working with latex is a piece of cake.
Anyway, I hope you’ll forgive my nostalgic rambling.
I also hope you call me up for your interior house painting work. I’m pretty easy to work with. It’s not like we’re doing rocket surgery here.
